Character Information
Name: Elise
Series: Fire Emblem Fates
Appearance: Check out this cutie
Age: Never stated, based on appearance and behavior probably around 14 or 15.
Canon Point: Post Revelations route
Canon History: Linky!
Personality:

Elise is a bright ray of sunshine in the dark kingdom of Nohr. She practically radiates cheer and exuberant optimism. A number of people admit to feeling happier just watching her. Her tastes are decidedly childish, and her free time is spent making flower crowns and flying kites and dragging whoever she can into games of hide and seek. She's a bit melodramatic about it too, declaring that she might literally die of boredom if Corrin doesn't play with her. Also extremely affectionate, hugs are the same to Elise as a friendly greeting might be to most people.

Despite being a princess, Elise is not at all stuffy or stuck up. She speaks to commoners and nobles with same casually friendly attitude. Her best friend is a girl she met in the slums after sneaking out of the castle when she was little. She still sneaks out sometimes, wanting to talk to people and really get to know and understand the commoners of her country. This shows that despite her childish habits, Elise does care about her position and the responsibilities it comes with. She just has her own ideas about what a princess can do for her people. She's always willing to lend an ear to someone's troubles, to the point of being just a little bit nosy.

And did I mention she gets a little reckless sometimes? She often impatiently leaves her bodyguards behind when heading into dangerous situations. This is partly due to her desire to prove herself useful to her allies. Being surround by talented and capable people, Elise is concerned about whether she can pull her own weight. She shows an interest in both physical training and learning battle strategy to make herself more useful. And while she does struggle with staying focused on such difficult and boring tasks, Elise shows that she can stick to it.

Between a mother who only thought of her as a political bargaining chip and an increasingly distant and cruel father, Elise found solace and comfort with her siblings. Being the youngest, she looks up to each and every one of them with admiration. In an effort to be more like Camilla, she dyes strands of her hair to match her sister's. Leo is the smart one and he's her go to choice for getting answers to all her curious and often random questions. Corrin may be adopted, but Elise adores them all the same and spent a lot of time visiting the northern fortress that Corrin was sequestered in. And Xander is the strong and kind older brother on whom she can always rely. Nothing is more important to Elise than her family. Even when Corrin seemingly betrayed them, abandoning both Nohr and Hoshido for mysterious reasons, Elise still believed in her sibling. In fact the only thing that kept her from helping them right away was Camilla's warning that it would cause more trouble.

While not being quite as sheltered as many people think, Elise can still be very naive. She tends to take rumors at face value, actually believing that Benny eats trees and boulders. And possibly mountains. In one of the game's routes she defines 'suppress the rebellion' as 'We go ask them to please stop rebelling. And then maybe have dinner together.' In her support conversations with Xander, he scolds her for healing a bunch of jailed pirates. Mostly because that enabled them to escape. Of course it also led to them having a change of heart about their career choice and spared the port from further attacks. So there maybe some wisdom in her innocence after all.

Abilities:
Magic! And it comes in two delicious flavors!
Healing- Pretty much what it says on the tin. Elise can heal people with her staff. This is really her primary role in the army. The easiest way to nerf this would probably be to limit the number of times it could be used in a day but I'm open to other ideas.
Elemental- and with the help of various tomes, Elise can use magic offensively too. Pretty standard rpg fare here- fireballs, lightning strikes, powerful gusts of wind. Honestly the way to nerf this one is to only give her access to weaker tomes. A standard fire tome can do some damage, and would certainly hurt, but you're not getting massive destruction out of it. It would also be easy to limit usage as above.
Other than that she can ride a horse well, play the violin, make flower crowns and other handicrafts, and pout until she gets her way. Such useful skills.

Inventory:

Q&A: Well this looks neat. Let's try the Q&A!

What’s your opinion on your family?

[Her face just lights up.]

I have a whole bunch of siblings and they're all wonderful! My older brother Leo is a mage and he's super smart and knows all kinds of things.

[Giggle.]

But he still wears his collar inside out sometimes.

[He will never live that down.]

And my sister Camilla is beautiful and refined and gives great hugs. Corrin is great too! Every time I visited the north palace, we played games and read each other stories and it was so fun! Xander is the oldest, and even though he looks all serious and stern, he's actually really nice. And he's super busy 'cause he's the crown prince, but he still makes time for all of us.

[Let's see, is that everyone? She's very pointedly not mentioning her mother or father. They were never really family to her anyway.]

Oh! And I found out I have another sister too! Azura. She was kidnapped when she was little so we only met a little while ago. But she's pretty and nice and sings really well. I'm so lucky to have all of them.

What would you rather have: powerful but uneasy allies or weaker but loyal friends?

Are you kidding? Friends all the way! No matter how weak someone is, they can be strong when they're not alone. Although...

[A thoughtful frown crosses her features.]

I don't think you should have to choose in the first place. Allies that start out uneasy probably just want to be your friend. Give them a chance.

What do you think your friends like about you?

Umm....

[A small nervous giggle. Elise often worries about how the rest of the army sees her. She's not much of a fighter, so it's hard to tell if she's pulling her weight. What is she actually good at...?]

Maybe... my smile? Or that I know a lot of really fun games. Once someone told me that he liked just watching me enjoy things. He said it was refreshing. Which is really sweet but also sort of weird.

Have you ever been in a situation where you had to strive for the moral high ground? If so, how difficult was it?

Well....

[This requires some thought. It's Corrin who deals with this kind of thing usually and it takes Elise a moment to think of something.]

There was this one time where I healed a bunch of pirates that were in jail. I thought it was important to have compassion and help people even if they've done bad things. And they were pretty banged up form fighting with the city guard.

But after I healed them, they escaped. Xander was really mad. And I bet the townspeople were mad at me too. And I guess I can't really blame them. But you know what?

[Pause for dramatic effect. She has a tiny smile on her face.]

After they got out, the pirates had a change of heart. They decided to give up on their lives of crime and the town hasn't been attacked since. So I still think I had the right idea.

Who is someone you admire greatly, and why?

My retainer, Arthur. He's a real life hero of justice! He's always out helping people and righting wrongs and stuff. And he never gives up even when he trips and falls on his face or gets bombarded by wyvern dung or steps on a wasps' nest.

He's.... kind of unlucky. But he never lets it get him down. I admire that.

Are you nervous about approaching someone you don’t know?

Why would I be nervous? Are they a really scary person?

[She pauses to think, then shakes her head.]

No, even if they were scary, I think I'd talk to them anyway. After all, someone might look scary and turn out to be super nice! If you didn't try talking to them you'd never even know.

Do you think things like politics and history are important to know about? Why or why not?

[Siiigh. And a reluctant admission.]

They are. The lessons are boring, but it's worth studying both. If you don't know enough about history you'll probably repeat a lot of mistakes that people made in the past. And if you don't understand current politics then it's hard to figure out how to help your people.
